Overhead Persistent Infrared

Applications to detect, track, process, visualize, fuse, and report events of interest from high-fidelity SBIRS data
We develop applications to detect, track, process, visualize, fuse, and report events of interest using data from the nation's overhead persistent infrared (OPIR) satellite systems to aid the military and other government organizations in their missions. We use modular software design and deliver frequent updates to operators and  analysts. The high-fidelity data from the Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) satellites is processed into contrast-enhanced videos and image products, XML messages compatible with external Common Operational Picture software, and PDF summary and trending reports.

Solutions We Can Provide

  • SBIRS wideband data-processing tools that provide operators with new capabilities and innovative ways to use SBIRS data to support other missions — we lead the development of the Enhanced Wideband Imagery Tool (EWIT)
  • Near real-time information to special forces and new mission capabilities for enhanced battlespace awareness
  • Development of external sensor fusion for more accurate data on the events of interest
  • Mission-related software application development using microservices and docker containers from commercial best practices to keep evolving the platform as more advanced commercial technology becomes available in government network enclaves
  • Apply machine-learning approaches to refine algorithms, resulting in reduced false detections and false tracks

Enhanced Wideband Imagery Tool (EWIT)
Tools to process SBIRS wideband data. Some of the available tools are highlighted here. Contact us to learn more.
  • CUDA Image Processing (CUIP): Multi-mode auto detection using GPU computing, batch processing, and machine learning to tune algorithm parameters.
  • OPIR-TV: Provides a web-based GUI to review recently auto-detected events and tracks; provides a way to create event playlists per COCOM, event type, or other criteria. Events can be reviewed using a combination of metric data and wideband image chips.
  • Cursor-on-Target (CoT) Analysis, Stats, and Trending (CAST): Provides daily, weekly, and monthly summaries of IR activity.
  • EWIT Client: Rapid interactive visualization of wideband data, detections, and tracks using a custom OpenGL rendering engine and GPU-accelerated contrast enhancement; provides both 3D globe display and 2D sensor-perspective rendering. Allows rapid replay of recent data using an intuitive DVR-like user interface.
